Training Abroad

MESA's Training Abroad Programs integrate practical and academic learning for a career in sustainable food systems. This hand-on learning and cross-cultural exchange opportunity offers experience in community-based agriculture and field education in international food justice to equip beginning farmers and food justice activists with the skills needed to repair our global food system. MESA's enthusiastic team of alumni and faculty are eager to provide Stewards with participatory learning and hands-on experience in rural agricultural systems, comprehensive academic curriculum, language immersion, mentorship and community integration.

"Climate change, environmental degradation, rising energy costs, hunger, and poverty are major international challenges that agriculturalists will face in the near future. The MESA model addresses the urgent need for a critical mass with comprehensive training in agroecology and the foundations of sustainable food systems to tackle the roots of these problems on a local and global level."
